Website development_

Behind every great website design is great development. We hand-code custom websites in Bury St Edmunds — clean, fast, secure, and built to last well beyond the next algorithm update.

There's a meaningful difference between a website that's been ‘made' and one that's been ‘built'. Templates and page builders can produce a site quickly, but they pile in code you don't need, slow down your pages, and rarely age well. We build websites the proper way — lean, custom-coded, and designed around the specifics of your business rather than wedged into a one-size-fits-all framework.

How we build

Custom code

Lean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no theme bloat.

Performance optimised

Fast loading on every device, every connection.

Mobile-first responsive

Built for phones first, scaled up to desktop.

Modern tech stack

WordPress, Laravel, React — the right tool for the job.

Clean, semantic markup

SEO-friendly out of the box, easy for Google to crawl.

Secure by default

Modern security practices baked into every build.

Scalable architecture

Designed to grow with your business, not bottleneck it.

Documented & maintainable

Clear code your future developers can pick up easily.

Built to last

A well-built website should be a long-term asset for your business, not a recurring problem. Most of the websites we built five years ago are still running smoothly today — because we don't take shortcuts at the build stage. Clean code, sensible architecture, and proper documentation mean lower long-term costs, fewer security headaches, and a platform that can grow with you.

We're equally happy working on WordPress, Laravel, React, or fully custom stacks — the right choice depends on what your project actually needs. Sometimes that's a CMS your team can manage. Sometimes it's a hand-rolled web application. We'll recommend the approach that fits your goals, not whatever framework we're most familiar with.

Development vs design — what's the difference?

If you're trying to work out whether you need our Website Design service or our Website Development service, here's the honest distinction: design covers what your site looks like and how it feels — layout, typography, colour, user flow, brand consistency. Development is everything underneath that — how it's coded, how fast it loads, how secure it is, how well it scales, how cleanly it integrates with other systems. Most clients want both, which is why we usually deliver them together as a single project. But a growing number of clients come to us for development-only work — either because they have an in-house designer or design agency they're happy with, or because a previous build has gone wrong and they need a developer to rescue it. Either route is welcome.

Development as a separate service

Most clients come to us for combined design and development, but we also work as developers-only for clients with their own designers, or to take over and rescue projects from other agencies. If you've got designs ready to build, or a half-built project that's stalled, get in touch — we're happy to pick up partway and bring things home properly.

Custom HTML & hand-coded sites

A growing share of our development work is hand-coded HTML, CSS and JavaScript — static or near-static sites with no CMS, no WordPress, no plugins. The trade-off is well understood: you lose easy day-to-day content editing, but you gain dramatic speed, near-zero security surface, near-zero ongoing maintenance, and a site that will look and behave identically in 2030 as it does today.

Custom HTML sites typically suit:

  • Brochure-style sites where content rarely changes — product launches, single-event sites, restaurant or hospitality sites where the menu changes a few times a year, professional services sites with stable content
  • High-performance landing pages — campaign pages, conversion-led product pages, anything where every millisecond of load time matters
  • Long-lifespan corporate sites — where the trade-off of harder content updates is worth the dramatically reduced maintenance bill over a 5–10 year life
  • Heritage or specialist sites — where a CMS is overkill and a hand-built site fits the budget and brief better

For sites that need frequent content updates by non-technical users, WordPress (with a custom theme) is usually the right call. For everything else, hand-coded HTML is faster, cheaper to run, and lasts longer. We’ll recommend the right approach during discovery rather than defaulting to one or the other.

Areas we serve

We deliver website development work for clients across Suffolk — Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Sudbury, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Felixstowe, Lavenham — and UK-wide. For Suffolk clients we’ll come to you for discovery and design reviews if you’d prefer in-person sessions. For clients further afield, video works equally well. Same service, same standard, wherever you’re based.
